The coaches who approach clients with humility are the same coaches who make a positive difference in the lives of the people they are coaching.
Questions to ask yourself
- Are you afraid of anything?
- Are you confident and self assured with everything you do?
- Do you have any doubts about your ability to become successful at everything you do?
Your answers to these questions will tell a lot about your coaching capability. When people say they are never afraid or always confident or never have misgivings about their abilities, they are fooling themselves or trying to fool someone else. These people are the same ones who have inflated egos and people with inflated egos do not make good coaches.
The accuracy of my statement relates to the implication of “always” or “never.” How many times can “always” or “never” be used in a true description of a person? Wouldn’t a more appropriate way to make a description of a person or yourself in this case, use words like “most of the time” or “usually?”
People who are capable of honest and reflective soul searching realize that they do have doubts and some degree of fear that relates to some parts of their lives.
We all know how unpleasant it is to be in the company of pompous people.
This unpleasant feeling is amplified when the people experiencing this kind of unpleasantness are the ones being coached and the coach is the arrogant one.
If you want to find success in your coaching, you must be willing to reflect on your personality traits. If you truly want to be successful in your coaching, you must repair the arrogance fault if it exists in you.
Humility is one of the most important qualities that a superior coach can possess.
